When ordering a part, what do I need to know?

There are many different type of BMW models. Some parts for these models are interchangeable, and some are not. To ensure that you receive the correct parts for your vehicle please provide the following when placing your order:

In some cases, vehicle owners interchange different parts in their vehicle. For example, some owners perform engine swaps on vehicles, and when ordering parts by the VIN number, the listed parts will not match the user's current vehicle. When ordering parts, please inform us of such occurrences.

Where can I find my vehicle's specs?

All BMWs manufactured after 1980 have a label located in the driver's door jam. To located it, open your drivers door, and look on the frame of the car, near the striker plate, and there will be a black label with white lettering on your car. This label has your vehicle's production information and VIN number.

What color is my car?

Your car should have a label affixed to either the hood or chassis with the exact color that the car was painted when it was manufactured. See the pictures below for examples..

Where do I find the part number of a part?

Not all parts have part numbers. You are looking for either an 11-digit or 7-digit number. Eleven digit numbers are in the format of main category (i.e.: audio video system), the subgroup (i.e.: Radio), and then the 7-digit part number. Some parts are written in short form, which excludes the category codes. Use the table below as a reference.

Number Type Format Example
Long (11-Digit) Part Number XX XX X XXX XXX 11 00 1 730 881
Short (7-Digit) Part Number X XXX XXX  1 730 881
